Job Number: REQ4385 Location: Edmonton or Calgary, AB Apply by: August 25, 2022 Paygrade: M-OTH System Title: Portfolio Manager Positions available: 1 Leader Name: Philip Shu As ATB’s next Investment Counselor (IC) , you will provide discretionary investment counseling and portfolio management for High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth investors.

The IC initiates and maintains strong, long-term relationships with direct and referral clients based on a track record of exceptional service, strong communication, sound investment management and a commitment to fiduciary duty.

Under the leadership of the Managing Director, Private Investment Counsel and Institutional Portfolio Management, the IC works closely with external centres of influence, ATB Securities Inc.

financial advisors, ATB private bankers, ATB business bankers and ATB Capital Markets to serve clients and deliver positive outcomes.

A dedicated Portfolio Associate and other support teams work alongside the IC to deliver an elevated client experience.

The Investment Counselor prospect process begins with a deep discovery discussion exercised by the IC to identify technical and behavioral considerations that are relevant to building and managing a discretionary investment portfolio and coordinating specialized wealth management services such as financial, tax, estate and business succession planning.

The IC will adjust their investment recommendation and portfolio management as necessary as clients’ goals and expectations evolve.

Accountabilities : Provides discretionary investment counseling and portfolio management services to meet clients’ goals.

Engages prospects and clients in discovery discussions to design and implement an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) tailored to specific goals and expectations Executes portfolio changes as needed by applying professional judgment to key inputs such as risk, return, investment time horizon, tax considerations, liquidity and other relevant constraints Exemplifies ATB Investment Management Inc.

Oversees the completion of client service tasks including maintaining relationships with internal partners and support groups Identifies client needs for specialized financial, tax, estate and succession planning expertise and collaborates with internal and external resources to ensure the clients’ interests are prioritized Promotes and shares knowledge of investment counseling and portfolio management throughout ATB and relevant communities to maintain and strengthen the ATB Investment Management private investment counsel reputation and brand Demonstrates emotional intelligence in asking the right questions and providing an informed perspective that goes beyond the public markets to connect net worth to life goals and necessary trade-offs Achieves individual growth objectives and contributes to ATB Investment Management business goals.

Actively develops and manages a portfolio of client relationships, generating sales results while delivering exceptional quality service Provides input on the private client service model and resources needed to execute consistently Provides input to the goal-setting process for client advocacy metrics, new business development and asset consolidation Generates new business opportunities through direct relationship building and referrals from existing clients, ATB partners and centres of influence such as accountants and lawyers Contributes analysis and insights to the ongoing investment dialogue within Private Investment Counsel Collaborates with ATB Investment Management portfolio management and research teams to keep abreast of capital market assumptions and communicate evolving client needs Competencies/Skills required: Broad, deep knowledge of behavioral finance and investment markets with exposure to asset allocation Service-oriented communication skills and adaptable presentation skills commensurate with the expectations of HNW and UHNW Albertans and institutional investors in urban and rural communities Teamwork and leadership skills to excel in a fast-paced, high-performance culture with a significant amount of independence Eight or more years of investment industry experience, with specific experience in business development and private client investment portfolio management University Degree or equivalent related experience CFA charterholder CFP designation At ATB, we know that as you develop in your career, you gain many transferable skills.
