The Rural Policy and Programs Branch leads in the development and implementation of rural development program, policy and legislative frameworks, the focus of which is to explore and create new ways to ensure all British Columbians share in the growth and prosperity of the province regardless of where they live.

The Branch is a driver in raising rural issues within government’s policy and decision making.

This leads to a diverse range of work across ministries and various levels of government including municipal and Indigenous governments.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below: Secondary school graduation or equivalent plus a minimum of one (1) years’ experience providing administrative support to a group of staff.

An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered.

Experience with standard computer applications including Microsoft programs (i.e.

Word, Excel, Outlook), internet and data management systems to enter, retrieve or edit data, access information, manage schedules, and produce a variety of documents and reports.

Experience with financial transactions/activities (e.g.

accounts payable, purchasing, petty cash reconciliation, etc.).

Experience with business applications including user support, administrative functions, and trouble shooting.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following: Post-Secondary courses or a certificate in office administration.

Experience working with rural stakeholders and/or Indigenous groups or peoples.

Experience with government contract and procurement practices.

HR systems experience using Tim-On-Line, CHIPS/Peoplesoft HR applications etc.

Experience with electronic records management (preferable with ARCs/ORCS/TRIM).
