Position Overview The Department of Physiology & Pharmacology in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Study Coordinator .

This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Study Coordinator (SC) reports directly to the Lead Investigator in the Laboratory of Human Cerebrovascular Physiology.

The SC will oversee the day-to-day operations of a CIHR-funded randomized controlled trial entitled: Brain-in-Motion II.

The SC will pay special attention to interpersonal communications with participants, as the incumbent will be the key contact to all participants throughout the 18-month study.

The SC’s ability to maintain respectful and helpful relations with this particular population (age 55 to 85 years) is of great importance to recruiting and retaining participants throughout the study (the most demanding recruitment phase of the study is now completed).

Position Description Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Participant Recruitment & Management: Participants are required to visit various laboratories for an array of comprehensive testing over a period of 18 months.

Develop strategic methods to recruit participants as detailed by the protocol.

Implement and coordinate recruitment of participants Liaise with various organizations and institutions for recruitment of participants Prepare and manage information packages for all potential participants Screen participants for eligibility Explain the study procedures to the participants Maintain systems and schedules for sending reminders and follow-up surveys to participants Develop strategies to keep participants engaged in the study (e.g., newsletters and workshops) Systems Information Management: Manage and coordinate receipt, logging and inventory of incoming materials Develop and maintain organizational systems for storage and retrieval of study materials on-site Develop and maintain appropriate procedures, reporting and records as required by the Research Ethics Board Coordinate computer systems for mailing, receiving, filing and inventory information related to the study Ensure quality assurance for audit purposes of the large quantities of study materials Investigate quality assurance queries on questionnaires logged, data entered, as well as images saved and forms inventoried Data Management: Using database (RedCap) with the Lead Investigator to track study data and compile reports Analyze study data Provide data as required to the Biostatistician Research Assistance: Carry out moderately complex research assignments in support of the research program Assist the PI in writing grant applications for funds related to the study, such as operating grants for future studies.

Prepare summary report on completion of study Participate in the development of procedures and administrative materials related to the research program Organize and participate in research group meetings Resource Management: Coordinate the work of trainees including undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows Train students in research procedures related to the study Provide support to students working in the lab Inform the PI in a timely fashion of any personnel/work related issues that may require attention Media and External Communications: Investigate funding opportunities for public communications related to the study Work alongside the Faculty of Medicine’s Media Relations Office to develop and lead fundraising initiatives with the corporate sector for securing incentive prizes for study participants and to develop and lead networking strategies with media to develop story ideas; coordinate media interviews with participants for the PI (TV, Print and Radio) Develop a e-newsletter/and potential workshops for participants so as to keep them informed and engaged in the study Qualifications / Requirements: BSc or MSc degree in health sciences or related field 2-5 years of related research experience required, ideally in coordinating observational studies for health research is an asset Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal and public relation skills Ability to work with close attention to detail Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable Knowledge of university computer systems including Microsoft Applications, SPSS, Sigmaplot,Adobe Acrobat, Reference Manager, and Matlab experience Application Deadline: March 24, 2023 We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
