If you are looking to influence the organization in a critical role in the forefront of an enterprise wide digital transformation, this role is for you About the Role: As a leader in the Salesforce Centre of Excellence team at Sun Life, you will manage a team of highly skilled Salesforce Application Developers and Designers in Canada.

You will provide coaching and technical leadership to team members (both Canada and India) and you will play a key role helping to mature the Salesforce development practice at Sun Life.

You will also work with your team and other application development teams to develop and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

This position will report to the Director, Engineering.

The role will have roughly around 12-15 direct reports.

What will you do?

Effectively hire and retain talent while leading and growing the Salesforce Design & Development team Manage progression and professional development of Salesforce Application Developers and Designers Onboard new team members and ensure they are aware of resources available and standards Coach and mentor staff to develop a high performing, highly motivated and engaged team of professionals Promote a learning environment to develop team member skills that align with industry developments and organization goals Set performance plans and objectives that recognize talent and provides honest, direct feedback in a timely manner Build team agility by assessing and anticipating knowledge/skill gaps and driving knowledge transfer and/or skill development Strategic resource planning
– ensuring that a long-term resourcing plan exists to meet the future needs of the organization, which includes in-house staff, offshore resources and third-party capabilities Key contributor in defining Salesforce application development best practices for Sun Life Financial.

Ensures compliance to systems development life cycle standards and application development best practices Works with delivery partners within Digital Business and Technology Solutions, external vendors, and partners to ensure delivery and support of all projects on time, on budget, and meeting business and IT expectations Ensure financial management, tracking and measurement of all key IT activities Active participant in various forums across Digital Business and Technology Solutions at Sun Life worldwide Regular travel between our Toronto (Downtown and North York) offices and our Waterloo offices will be required.

What do you need to succeed?

University degree.

Post graduate studies in management or IT would be an asset Minimum of 10 years experience in IT Greater than 5 years of experience providing direct and/or indirect leadership Software design knowledge and practice with application, system integration, security and infrastructure experience is desirable Experience Integrating complex and unique program/projects with numerous technologies and platforms Salesforce development experience, including integrating Salesforce with other Enterprise scale applications Experience in DevOps and Agile is highly desirable Strong understanding of Agile methodologies Experience as a practitioner on an Agile team preferred Salesforce Certifications: Must Have : Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Platform Developer 1 Nice to Have: Salesforce Sales Cloud Consultant, Salesforce Community Cloud Consultant Competencies Strong technical and business acumen A thought leader, inquisitive and comfortable in challenging the status quo Ability to work in a matrixed or shared services organizational model Political savvy, seasoned, a natural diplomat who can navigate the organization globally Results oriented, drives others to meet their objectives Ability to lead through influence in a complex and evolving environment to meet challenging timelines and organizational goals Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels Demonstrated leadership in managing geographically diverse teams What’s in it for you: Competitive salary and bonus structure influenced by market range data Pension, stock and savings programs to help build and enhance your future financial security A common sense dress code, where you dictate how you dress based on your day An environment of continuous learning and improvement The opportunity to move along a variety of career paths with amazing networking potential LI
– SJ The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.

It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.

In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
