Senior Inventory Analyst

Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Inventory team at Acklands Grainger manages over 500K Stock Keeping Units and $170 million across multiple distribution centres, branches, and on-sites across Canada. Our primary responsibility is to have the right product in the right place for customers, strategically balancing capital and OPEX investment of inventory dollars, labour and holding space. 

The Senior Inventory Analyst will be responsible for providing functional expertise and guidance regarding daily execution and continuous improvement of inventory planning processes and policies.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Inventory Analyst will be accountable for functional expertise over select planning areas within the network for specific business policies and procedures, as assigned, within (but not limited to) the following areas:

  • Demand Capture
  • Demand Management
  • Forecasting
  • EOQ / Safety Stock
  • DRP / Deployment
  • Stocking Policy
  • Market Intelligence

Based on the specific assigned area of ownership, the Senior Inventory Analyst will:

  • Partner with leadership in developing supply chain strategies to meet customer service and meet inventory performance targets for the network.
  • Facilitate discussions with regional or national business representatives to adapt the planning system to effectively accommodate business unit needs.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to supply chain systems.
  • Work with cross functional and cross border Supply Chain partners to gain alignment on business policies and system functionality to execute those policies.
  • Forecast and manage the flow of product to the Distribution Centers and/or Branches and/or on-sites.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Acklands Grainger and Grainger US Supply Chain partners to develop building-specific strategies, identify constraints, and recommend and execute solutions to meet performance metric goals and support long-term supply chain objectives. Perform system maintenance and maintain master data within planning areas and processes as needed.
  • Review and analyze planning data to prepare reports for management review.
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses as needed.Provide thought leadership and business guidance to department analysts to make the team better as an informal leader.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of post-secondary degree, preferably in Business or equivalent business experience with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain
  • Strong analytic fundamentals, proficiency in analyzing large data sets to solve problems and experience working with cross-functional partners
  • Understanding of key financial, customer service and supply chain metrics
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Use of data and analytics to tell a story to relevant business leaders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; requires knowledge of downloading and uploading information via mainframe and PC systems
  • Project Management and continuous improvement experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Business Objects and/or Teradata and/or SQL and/or PowerBI a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP Supply Chain Suite, particularly Advance Planning & Optimization or Service Parts Planning a plus
