Role Summary

The CMM/Laser Scanner Operator Programmer creates inspection programs for the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Laser Scanner.  Gathers, analyzes and reports custom written programs to generate inspection data for manufacturing and design. This position has advanced CMM programming knowledge and is able to manage multiple jobs at one time. The CMM/Laser Scanner Operator Programmer will also analyze results and provide accurate information to the manufacturing team in order to help facilitate an accurate and timely tool build.

Key Responsibilities

 Perform prescribed duties and responsibilities outlined in all levels and categories
•    Maintain CMM and Laser Scanner throughput as per departmental goals
•    Perform to quality and timing standards defined by department
•    Perform and document all required geometry or calibration checks at designated intervals
•    Organize required external geometry checks at designated intervals
•    Train and provide guidance on all aspects of CMM/Laser Scanner duties and responsibilities in order to ensure smooth transitions and promote a stronger overall department
•    Initiate, participate and educate others in standardized work processes and help create work instructions 
•    Able to notice abnormal conditions in all areas on “duties and responsibilities” and be able to effectively solve the issues
•    Available and willing to travel as required for training, benchmarking, etc.
•    Read, react and make recommendations on work in the scheduling system
•    Work on various shifts with minimal supervision
•    Adhere to applicable quality systems and Support the total Tycos Management System (MAFACT, WCM, ISO-9001)
•    Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and WCM initiatives

Key Qualifications/Requirements


•    Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma an asset or equivalent experience
•    College diploma / University degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience an asset
•    Previous experience as a CMM / Laser Scanner Operator 
•    Strong understanding of metrology and measurement 

•    Proficient in CMM programming and CMM programing principles
•    Effectively program and manage multiple jobs at once
•    Proficient in the use of available CAD software to prepare Inspection models
•    Proficient in CMM Machine / laser Scanning Operation:
o    Ability to setup, pickup, program and run CMM machine / Laser Scanner as per departmental goals
•    Proficient in the use of implemented CMM / Laser Scan programming software in order to prepare:
o    Inspection files
o    In process reports for internal process applications
o    Final reports as per customer specifications
•    Analyze results and provide accurate information to the manufacturing team in order to help facilitate an accurate and timely tool build
•    Strong understanding of:
o    Tooling and tooling requirements
o    Machining processes and accuracy requirements
o    Build processes and accuracy requirements
o    Customer processes and accuracy requirements
o    Production fixturing system
•    Ensure the use and proper documentation of “in process review” meetings with manufacturing
•    Strong working knowledge of the theory and practical application of all prescribed “duties and responsibilities”
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
•    Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat is required
•    Ability to effectively problem solve
•    Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
•    Well-developed organizational and time management skills
•    Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail, employing a quality first attitude
•    Cooperative and flexible worker, able to employ a service and team oriented approach
•    Must demonstrate the focus and ability to multitask
•    Demonstrate excellent initiative and proactivity
