Apply your strong business acumen in a unique opportunity with the Fish and Aquatic Habitat Branch The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD) delivers multi-faceted natural resource management and rural development programs and services for the Province of British Columbia.

The Resource Stewardship Division provides executive direction, statutory decision-making and strategic oversight for the sustainable stewardship of natural resources.

The division consists of five branches: Fish and Aquatic Habitat, Resource Planning and Assessment, Species at Risk Recovery, Water Management and Wildlife and Habitat and administers several acts and associated regulations including the Land Act, Water Sustainability Act, Wildlife Act, and others.

The Fish and Aquatic Habitat Branch provides Provincial leadership, regulatory oversight, policy direction, implementation guidance and coordination for the sustainable management of the fish and aquatic resources of British Columbia, and all the associated social, economic and environmental outcomes those resources provide.

The Fisheries Licencing and Business Specialist plays a senior advisory role in the development of program policy and regulations related to the recreational and commercial activities throughout the Province, including providing policy interpretation and advice.

The Specialist maintains expert knowledge on the fisheries sector, including sector development, and plays a key role in the development or review of regulations in consultation with regions and others.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below: A diploma or certificate in Public Administration or a computer systems administration related field (i.e.: information technology, database management, computer science) and a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience overseeing the operations and maintenance of an online permitting/licensing system; OR, 5 years of related experience; OR, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Experience using MS Excel.

Preference may be given for: Knowledge of, and recent experience in interpreting fisheries legislation and regulations and applying related statutes, rules, policies and procedures.

Recent experience working in diverse or multi-agency teams.

Recent experience working with stakeholders.
