Area Coordinator – Diagnostic Imaging

This is a Contract position in Vaughan, ON posted May 6, 2021.

The Area Coordinator is responsible for organizing the flow of patients, including prioritizing based on clinical indication, providing preparation instructions, scheduling their exams and coordinating follow-up as needed.

Entering patient information, appointment times, patient questionnaires and screening results within the OBSP ICMS data entry program.

Monitoring and confirming pathology, surgical and biopsy results and communicate this information to the Radiologist and ordering Physicians.

Generate client packages and result letters for patients and maintain a good rapport with the Toronto Central Region Cancer Program.

Additional duties of the area coordinator may include entering porter transport requests, faxing, communicating appointment times, any applicable patient preparation as needed and answering any incoming calls.

Retrieve previous outside imaging required for Radiologist reporting.

The area coordinator needs to have a good understanding of medical terms/pathology, a good knowledge of the different types of exams in Ultrasound and Mammography and workflows.

Qualifications: College Diploma or Relevant Certificate in healthcare related field required 2 year relevant experience in a Diagnostic Imaging department or equivalent required.

Experience using Carestream RIS preferred.

Experience with OBSP Screenin g program and ICMS software system preferred.

Experience ordering and maintaining supplies is preferred.

Knowledge of and prior experience coordinating patient flow preferred.

Beginner level skills in MS Word and MS Excel required.

Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology specifically relating to Diagnostic Imaging.

Highly organized and able to appropriately identify priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent Interpersonal skills with an ability to interact appropriately with all levels of the care team including patients and their families.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated initiative and an ability to identify and implement efficiencies in one’s role.
