Internal Audit Specialist

This is a Full-time position in Vaughan, ON posted July 15, 2021.

The Opportunity: As a contract Internal Audit Specialist, you can help make a real difference by contributing to the Canadian Natural’s ongoing efforts to improve operational excellence.

You will be involved in performing risk-based assessments of various operational and administrative processes and procedures across the Company’s business including: Oil Sands Mining; Conventional; Thermal; and Corporate Head Office’s finance and business support services functions.

Key Accountabilities: Understand, analyze and diagnose processes/procedures and recommend potential remediation strategies to address gaps in the design and operating effectiveness of controls Demonstrate your business acumen by preparing sound, practical, risk-based audit strategies to successfully obtain audit assurance while simultaneously gaining consensus from the business on the planned approach Leverage your knowledge of the Company’s processes across various functions and suggest innovations to help better manage risks and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness Develop trusted relationships with stakeholders in the business by contributing ideas and communicating issues and by facilitating agreement on action plans Manage your time and priorities to maximize the value of your audit approach while minimizing the impact on the business Develop and hone your knowledge of relevant industry, professional and regulatory frameworks, including compliance requirements, standards, and guidelines Other Details: This is a 12 month contract or temporary employee position Job location: Calgary, Alberta Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off (Monday to Friday) Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a finance or engineering discipline and a related professional designation (i.e., CPA, P.Eng) 5 years of post-qualification experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably with additional experience from internal or external auditing with the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation or willingness to pursue Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation would be an asset Why Canadian Natural?
