Scrum Master

This is a Contract position in Vaughan, ON posted May 6, 2021.

The opportunity This position is for an experienced Scrum Master to coordinate the delivery of agile based development for our products.

As a Scrum Master you will be responsible for high quality product delivery, resolving issues in a team, and implementing sustainable improvements to meet delivery timelines and quality standards.

The Scrum Master is a key role within an Agile delivery team that delivers a product that generates business benefits for one or more lines of business at OTPP.

What you’ll do Facilitates all key Scrum ceremonies
– Sprint Planning, Daily Stand Up, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospectives Works with the Product Owner to ensure backlog refinement occurs regularly.

Assist the Product Owner by helping to facilitate the session where required.

Provide team level metrics on a sprint by sprint basis around key performance indicators and provide a release level burn up to project anticipated release dates for the next product increment.

Produce Sprint Burndowns to track intra sprint progress and highlight areas of improvement for future sprints.

Works with Agile Coach and Agile team to create story maps, release strategies, and actively helps the team manage each sprint within the JIRA backlog.

Identifies, manages and resolves any risks, issues, and blockers.

Works closely with a Project Manager (where one exists) to raise blockers if unable to be resolved by the team.

Lead the team to self-organization and continuous improvement Leads the product owner and development team members through the biweekly sprint cadence to adhere to the standards of Teachers’ agile.

Collaborates with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.

Demonstrates servant leadership.

Scrum Master for up to two teams at any given period.

Supports and guides the work of the team, identifying gaps and working with managers, including team resourcing Lead and coach the squad in its Scrum adoption with the support of an Agile Coach (where required) Help employees and stakeholders learn and demonstrate their understanding of agile ways of working Facilitate change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team Demonstrate a collaborative approach to accomplish work, and have the ability to influence a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders of all levels.

What you’ll need Relevant Bachelor’s degree or diploma Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar (e.g.

ACP) Six Sigma / Lean Certification an asset Knowledge of agile development practices and experience with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence 3 years experience as a Scrum Master Financial Services experience an asset 5 Years of experience as part of a delivery environment (either traditional or agile) Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Excellent influencing and negotiating skills Excellent organizational, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of management and staff Demonstrates a solid understanding and application of Agile project management tools, techniques and methodologies Familiarity with IT concepts, methodology and vocabulary is an asset Effective planning and organizational experience to help teams set priorities and co-ordinate work to drive value Effective organizational skills sufficient to manage competing and changing priorities within a dynamic environment Solid problem solving skills and analytical skills to creatively develop unique solutions/approaches to resolve issues Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple clients, teams and partners Proactive customer service focus What we’re offering Pay for performance environment that offers competitive salary and incentives Numerous opportunities for professional growth and development Comprehensive employer paid benefits coverage, including a Health Spending Account Guaranteed retirement income through a defined benefit pension plan Competitive time off Discount programs including Edvantage and Perkopolis Degreed: a digital platform that helps you quickly and easily discover, share, and track ALL kinds of learning resources
