Company: Number of Openings: 0 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: Reporting to the Technology Operations Supervisor, the Technology Product Specialist is a senior level specialist that is embedded in a joint Finning/Caterpillar/customer team.

They will provide expertise and ongoing technical support in order to assist the site-based team and customer on the use and operation of Caterpillar Mining software and hardware technologies.

As a Technology Product Specialist you will be advising other technical experts and have a key role in making decisions and providing support, both for office and onboard systems.

Using a combination of expertise and coordination with Caterpillar, the successful candidate will provide advanced troubleshooting of the software and hardware for Cat Technologies including Fleet, Terrain, Site Aware and DSS that is currently used at the customers autonomous mining operation.

The position is based in Calgary at the customer headquarters on a 7 days on and 7 days off schedule (12 hour days).

Periodic visits to the customer site will be required on an as needed basis (flights to site are provided).

Job Description: Key Responsibilities Customer technical support and optimization for Caterpillar technology products with focus on Fleet/Terrain/ Site Awareness/DSS.

Support the software updates and hardware upgrades at the customers operation Support the calibration and commissioning of new/existing equipment Identify and troubleshoot product issues and take appropriate actions to repair and resolve issues in a cost-effective way to minimize customer downtime.

Create new and review existing documentation as well as provide expert feedback on documentation/procedures created internally and by customers.

Configuration management of Fleet/Terrain/Site Awareness/DSS Supporting customer Operational, Mine Planning and Maintenance teams Investigate and report product failure trends and serviceability issues Internal mentoring and training – provide product and process cross-training to team members Qualifications Minimum 4 years experience in a technical role with a focus on providing solutions for customers with Post-secondary education in fields such as: Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering OR Minimum 10 years experience in mining or construction operations with an in depth knowledge of computers and mining/heavy civil construction technology The successful candidate has a good understanding of best practices for mine equipment dispatching Experienced with various office programs MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint Additional Skills At least 2 years of field experience in a technical role The successful candidate will be an expert user in major fleet management systems including MineStar/Wenco/Modular Experience in Mining Operations or Heavy Civil Construction is an asset Mine Planning experience Knowledgeable in GPS/GNSS systems Experience with computer networking Civil CAD, Vulcan, Deswik or other Mine Engineering software experience Automation in mining has expanded dramatically in the last decade.
