Position Overview: Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Director, Category Manager will be responsible to drive and be accountable for category performance and initiatives in CRH Canada.

Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, and travel requirements): Major Duties/Responsibilities: Perform strategic sourcing of categories (internal data analysis, cost analysis, supplier and market analysis); develop / identify new or alternative sources of supply to improve financial performance at the company level Drive, develop and execute negotiation strategy with suppliers and negotiate complex agreements that involve significant coordination with large cross functional teams Execute contracts that optimize benefits to the operating company and implement those contracts within business units Manage the inbound supply chain of the categories and supplier performance on a structured basis Develop and implement categories strategies in line with budget needs for concrete, construction and aggregates manufacturing operations; work with cross-functional teams composed of manufacturing, finance and others as required Develop and maintain relationships with external markets and other consumers to understand trends and develop opportunities, including influencing public policy through industry groups.

Interfaces with all levels of company and division management to drive engagement and adoption of relevant procurement processes and/or programs at company level Participate / support regional strategic sourcing teams Provide regular reports & updates to team members & stakeholders as required Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Experience, Technical Expertise): Minimum 5 years in strategic procurement role (category management, sourcing) with exposure to complex strategic sourcing and optimal procurement processes and standards Demonstrated performance in working within cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and energy to ensure that a challenging benefits and capability building agenda is successfully delivered Computer and analytical skills are essential SAP(preferred) , Ariba (preferred), Microsoft office Bilingual (English and French) oral preferred Education: University Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or any relevant field of expertise or equivalent experience Position Dimensions (i.e., communication skills, planning, teamwork, technical knowledge, leadership, initiative) Manages Execution – Ensure that work is completed to achieve goals efficiently, effectively and according to Group standards Highly effective time management, planning and organization skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and drive tasks to completion in a fixed time-frame and in a pressured environment Cultivates Relationships and Networks – Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with others in a friendly and respectful manner across multiple functions, countries, regions and cultures Ability to deal with ambiguities, conflicts and adversarial relationships Establishes Trust and Confidence – Show consistency between words and actions, follow through on commitments; accept responsibility for one’s own performance, not undermining others, but acting fairly, truthfully and consistently with CRH policies Analysis and Problem-Solving – Proven ability in analysis and interpretation of data Proven ability to identify problems quickly, make sound judgments, establish and implement solutions Customer Focus – Explore and understand customers’ requirements to ensure a high level of responsive service Drives Change and Innovation – Support the implementation of new ideas with an open mind and curiosity, removing barriers and obstacles to change Communication
