Position Title: Director, Product Development, Savings & Retirement Reports To: Vice President, Savings & Retirement Department: Savings & Retirement Term: Permanent, Full-Time Work Arrangements: We are currently working remotely, and we will be moving to a hybrid model when our office renovation is complete (approximately September 2023), coming into the office a minimum of 2 days per week, every other week on designated days.

The Opportunity: Equitable Life is seeking a Director, Product Development, Savings & Retirement Reporting to the Vice President, Savings & Retirement, this role will be accountable for setting and executing the product shelf strategy and processes that support the S&R Line of Business objectives and key results.

Additionally, this role will work closely with leaders in Finance, Marketing, and Sales to develop innovative products to meet the needs targeted client segments.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Kitchener-Waterloo’s Top Employers for 2023 What you will be doing: Managing the research, design and implementation of new products and product enhancements to grow market share, to enhance sales, and positively impact profitability of the business line Ensuring that all individual investment and retirement products and associated client communications comply with industry guidelines and regulations Setting, collecting, and acting on product shelf key performance indicators for the S&R Division Ongoing monitoring of the product shelf to identify and action product distribution risks Support the relationship management with third party fund management companies, fund audit, monitoring, due diligence reviews, and providing necessary information to fund managers/companies on sales and redemptions Training the sales and operations teams on products shelf changes (new and enhanced) Align with Investments and Individual Insurance on fund line-up for Universal Life product offering Work with cross line-of-business Product Development leaders on joint product development innovation Designing and developing all aspects of investment sales illustration systems Build and develop talent and teams, coach and develops others, responsible for all aspects of team member performance management – feedback, recognition, employee engagement, performance improvement, career development What you will bring: Deep experience in investments or life insurance, with several years in individual investment and retirement product development Advanced knowledge of individual investment and retirement products and Canadian regulatory requirements governing the manufacturing and distribution of such products Segregated Fund (Individual Variable Insurance Contracts) product knowledge an asset Deep experience with third party fund management companies and/or portfolio managers Expert knowledge and experience with the use of data and analytics to drive innovative accumulation and decumulation product development and client strategies Strong understanding of product pricing Strong negotiation and decision-making skills University Degree – Bachelor of Business, Commerce preferred MBA and/or CFA, CIM, CFP designations an asset What’s in it for you: A healthy work-life balance with employee wellness top of mind Annual bonus program, annual vacation allowance, and company-paid benefits program An additional paid volunteer day each year so you can spend time giving back to the community Immediate enrollment in the company’s pension program with employer matching Employee resource groups that support an inclusive work environment Tuition support and specialized program assistance A company subsidized cafeteria with a variety of daily options Discounts on company products and services, and access to exclusive employee perks Regular EQ Together events focused on company togetherness and collaboration As part of the recruitment/offer process you will be required to: Provide two professional references (minimum one supervisor and above) To learn more about Equitable Life, we encourage you to explore our organization.
