Senior Manager, Onshore Trust

Purpose Contributes to the overall success of the Onshore Trust business within International Wealth Management (IWM) ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of business targets, plans, in line with the Country and IWM overall business strategies and objectives.

Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal bank policies and procedures.

Contributes to the overall success of the Onshore Trust business within International Wealth Management (IWM) in ensuring to deliver on business targets specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the country team’s business strategies and objectives in line with the Country and IWM overall business objectives.

Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with relevant local governing regulations, internal Bank policies and procedures.

Facilitates sharing of best practices and leveraging of resources across all divisions of IWM.

Accountabilities Business development and P&L Management Work with local Trust leaders to define multi-year growth strategies and provide guidance to local units on plan parameters Responsible of business line P&L management, financial planning and forecasting.

Seek new business growth opportunities and to provide input to develop strategies to meet multiyear business goals and financial targets.

Oversight of Onshore Trust units and key processes and products Responsible for the oversight of the Trust business in country (Latam & Caribbean region) including design, implementation and approval of process and design projects, training plans and other relevant initiatives that are critical to delivering on growth objectives.

Identifying the necessary sales tools and products required by Trust sales force(s) and working with support groups to have needs met and implemented Monitor Trust sales results against performance standards, develop and drive execution of solutions; provide recommendations to drive increased productivity and performance including redesign and implementation of compensation programs.

Partner with the Director/VP to establish sales targets and ensuring the ongoing monitoring of the Onshore Trust sales officers’ performance against these metrics in conjunction with local IPB leaders.

Support the delivery of processes and management information systems (MIS) for Onshore Trust Analyzing Customer and Financial MIS (including through Power BI and Salesforce reports) from internal and external sources to identify and plan for potential new revenue opportunities Ensuring the adherence to regulatory and internal Bank requirements (e.g.

AML, KYC, Internal Controls, etc.) Supporting tactical responses to negative trends Designing, managing, compiling and conducting thorough analysis and evaluation of information from market research, customer research, competitor/product assessment, partner identification Sourcing and presenting industry best practices and trends to drive revenues Governance Onshore Trust business provides a complex trust and other services to high net worth and sophisticated commercial clients, necessitating a superior client experience
– clients in 20 countries, country rules, and extremely complex operating structures.

Support business teams in multiple jurisdictions with different regulatory requirements (Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Panama & Costa Rica) Design and facilitate training and workshops for units and staff to implement new business practices as well as process and policy improvements.

Provides support for all structural transformation projects as the subject matter expert within the Onshore Trust business, including both long
– and short-term strategic initiatives for process improvements that are sustainable and scalable.

Other areas Represents the business and its highly complex and unique regulatory requirements in IWM and/or Bank wide cross-functional projects and collaboratively contribute to the overall business direction and strategies.

Develops and maintains strategic relationships within the business, as well as with key stakeholders across IWM, the Bank, and external service providers.

Leads change management exercises through active, professional, and respectful participation.

Facilitates sharing of best practices and leveraging of resources across IWM.

Communicate effectively with the Trust business staff at all levels and all geographical locations in an effective and clear manner in order to share pertinent information and engender commitment and engaged involvement from the field.

Core / Foundational Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education/Experience College / University Graduate and / or proven skills and experience in Estate and Trust industry 5 Years of experience in Wealth Management industry, preferably in the Latam region Knowledge of the Estate, Trust and Custody industry, preferably in the Latam region.

Spanish is required Financial management and reporting knowledge & program management skills Risk Management and internal controls experience Change management skills and ability to adopt technology and reporting platform changes to support operational improvements, sales management process improvements and general management improvements.

Ability to think and respond quickly, able to adapt to change readily.

Strong relationship building skills to gain support from relevant business partners Understanding of the regulatory environment and parameters impacting the design and delivery of products and services within the Wealth Management industry Highly developed influencing and communication skills.
