Job Duties and Responsibilities Tax: Provide leadership and accountability in the execution of tax strategies and risk management for all Canadian Linde entities.

Directly engage in regular dialogue and tax planning with Linde tax leaders in the International tax and US tax groups.

Advise and engage with Linde cross-functional groups and affiliated entities to facilitate tax planning and offer recommendations.

Manage and direct all activities pertaining to the Canadian tax department with the goal of identifying and minimizing tax exposures while maximizing tax savings opportunities in compliance with Canadian tax legislation.

Work with global tax groups to develop effective cash repatriation strategies while ensuring compliance with Canadian international tax legislation.

Provide Canadian tax input on global tax projects.

Oversee the Canadian legal entity structure with the goal of maintaining tax efficiency at local and group levels.

Oversee all external tax audits; act as main point of contact with auditors and partner with external tax advisors to develop and defend company positions on various tax issues with the goal of reducing adverse tax consequences.

Review and oversee completion of monthly and quarterly tax provisions and internal tax GL reporting for local company and consolidation purposes.

Responsible for review and completion of all Canadian income tax compliance requirements, including corporation income tax returns, partnership returns and other information tax returns (non-resident tax filings, foreign affiliate filings, etc.).

Ensure compliance with Canadian transfer pricing requirements.

Directing commodity tax processes (GST, HST, QST, PST) as well as other tax compliance processes (carbon tax, propane tax, property tax, fuel tax, SOX, withholding taxes, etc.).

Responsible for local tax review and tax modeling for legal contracts and agreements for Canadian acquisitions, divestitures, major customer and vendor contracts and new plant builds.

Coordinate with external firms for completion of Canadian tax surplus calculations and oversee statutory Canadian registered pension plan audit and statutory financial statement audits.

Support Canadian Human Resources group by providing tax advice on various Canadian taxation issues pertaining to employee compensation/rewards and taxable benefits.

Pension: Assist the local VP Finance and Global Head of Pension Investments in oversight of company pension plan investments, act as main point of contact with DB investment managers, assist in pension committee activities in capacity of pension board member and board secretary.

Provide support for pension finance and accounting matters.

Treasury: Oversee Canadian banking governance requirements, act as local entity contact for Global Treasury group.

Provide administrative support and guidance to local banking processes.

Support local working capital initiatives by acting as approver for A/P related early/special payment requests, approval of non-standard payment terms for vendor accounts as well as providing oversight for Citi Supply Chain Finance program Required Qualifications General understanding of US and International tax University degree CPA, CA Some experience in Treasury and Pension admin preferred Experience in a large multi-legal entity organization Linde has an extensive background check process which may include but is not limited to, a criminal background review, reference checks, employment and education verification.
