To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com Job Description What You’ll Be Doing Global Operational Risk Management (GORM) is responsible for providing oversight of CIBC’s global operational risk exposures through the Operational Risk Management and Control Frameworks including people, technology, processes or external events.

The Operational Risk Management team and Control Programs is part of GORM and is responsible for developing and managing frameworks, policies, systems, tools and processes to ensure CIBC has a sound internal control environment, meets regulatory requirements and is effective in managing operational risks.

The group is also responsible for operational risk measurement including the calculation of operational risk capital in compliances with the regulatory requirements.

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure CIBC has a sound and effective fraud risk management program in CIBC.

The Senior Director, Fraud Risk Management is responsible for maintaining the CIBC Fraud Risk Management Policy which includes the framework of fraud risk management.

In addition, the Senior Director is responsible for establishing monitoring and oversight mechanism for compliance of the Policy and fraud risk management practices in CIBC.

How You’ll Succeed Policies and Standards
– Lead the review and maintenance of CIBC’s Fraud Risk Management Policy, standards, related procedures, methodologies and guideline, focusing on establishing sound and effective fraud risk management practice in CIBC.

Ensure CIBC’s Fraud Risk Management Policy is consistent with risk, governance and control environment in CIBC.

Monitor the regulatory and business environment to ensure CIBC remains abreast of changes and emerging industry practice.

Governance Committee
– Establish and manage a Fraud Risk Council in CIBC with the objective to provide oversight of various programs and both tactical and strategic initiatives to mitigate fraud risk.

Ensure the Fraud Risk Council meets the governance committee protocol standards e.g.

maintaining a charter and memberships, conducting self-assessment of committee effectiveness and records keeping.

Risk Management Support
– Provide leadership and work to fraud risk management issues and program development; As part of the ongoing assurance review of the fraud risk management practice in CIBC, provide effective challenge to both business units and fraud risk management program owners to ensure programs are designed and operating effectively and in aggregate mitigate both internal and external fraud risks in CIBC.

Provide regular reports to senior management, governance committees and the Board on fraud risk status, trends, issues and mitigation strategies/plan Operational Effectiveness
– Partner with stakeholders and fraud risk management program owners to increase fraud risk awareness in CIBC .

Stay current with regulatory requirements, industry best practices and emerging thinking on fraud risk management People Management
– Ensure competent staff is recruited, retained, developed, trained, motivated and rewarded fairly.

Ensure roles and responsibilities of all team members are in line with business strategy and the team has role clarity.

Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identify and remove obstacles to performance and explain how performance expectations align with business priorities.

Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.

Who You Are You have strong working knowledge of : fraud risk management practices, financial controls and financial processes within the financial services industry, and risk management processes.

You have expert knowledge in regulatory requirements and industry trends fraud risk management.

You can demonstrate 10-15 years industry-related experience and have strong understanding of the Canadian Banking Industry (issues, trends, competitors); you have excellent leadership and business planning skills.

It’s an asset if you have a Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
– CFE Designation.
