Overview Reporting to the Metro Vancouver Ready-Mix Operations Manager, the Plant Manager, Ready-Mix is responsible for all aspects of their individual plant and surrounding active customer projects.
The Plant Manager will ensure all targets, budgets and objectives are met for their facility.
The Plant Manager ensures that all facets of their facility meets the demands of production, delivery quality and safety while meeting efficiency and budget targets.
The Plant Manager will act as the liaison between the customer base and Lafarge in order to manage the day-to-day activities of active customer projects.
Responsibilities Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies and procedures Coordinating all on site activities such as site work, production, maintenance and maximum utilization of equipment, personnel and subcontractors Review and propose improvements of processes for plant related activities Monitor & recommend equipment for plant upgrades and to maintain productivity and efficiency Property maintenance and management Manage all plant staff; maintenance, production and delivery personnel Ensure adequate and efficient staffing Ensure training requirements are up to date and offered as required Control allocation of production supplies Plan all plant related repairs and maintenance in order to control cost and meet production demands Interpret and monitor environmental aspects and issues as it pertains to the plant Maintain inventory of all necessary raw materials Report on month end inventory and variance reports Address month end financial review Liaison with customers of active projects in surrounding to address upcoming and current demands and concerns Monitor delivery personnel on our customer’s sites Conduct and report on incident investigations Ensure plant production is within quality specifications Monitor raw materials to ensure it is within specification Results/Accountabilities: Continuous improvement of safety results and standards of expectation Manages change through influence on front-line staff Monitors and meets Operations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Dimensions/Relationships with Others’ Jobs: Direct reporting structure to Operations Manager, Metro Vancouver RMX Directly supervise plant production, delivery and maintenance staff.
Works closely with Production Manager, Customer Care Logistics Manager, Quality Manager and Field Operations Manager.
Interacts regularly with Procurement to deliver best value via contractor selection and materials procurement.
Qualifications Education and Work Experience: Bachelor Degree in Engineering or similar, or equivalent work experience Previous experience in a management/supervisory of a unionized environment role an asset Knowledge of or experience with production facility Demonstrated strong application user skills for MS Office Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at high level Knowledge and Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy Strong attention to detail Demonstrated strong problem solving skills; a self-starter Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Strong time management skills essential Independent thinker Ability to negotiate skilfully in tough situations without damaging relationships Highly motivated, able to quickly build and maintain positive working relationships Ability to maintain composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrates positive customer service attitude Continuous improvement mindset Competencies: Leading Change Leading People Customer Focus Conflict Management Developing Direct Reports & Others Managing & Measuring Work Motivating Others Drive for Results Listening Composure Collaborative Approach Strong Execution focus Structured approach As part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required.
